Facing foreclosure can be daunting, scary, and even lonely. Our housing counselors know what you are going through, and they want to help. Between the statewide housing crisis, the global pandemic, and the unpredictable economy, it’s no wonder that millions in New York State are struggling. A recent report found that one in five New Yorkers spend over half their income on housing. It’s not sustainable for individuals or our communities.

Is housing counseling right for me?

If you are worried about foreclosure: yes, please get in touch. We administer the Homeowner Protection Program (HOPP) [link to page] in partnership with the state, and our counselors are trained to know what other programs you might be eligible for—and help you apply.

Can I trust Galvan Housing Resources? Is there a catch?

There’s no catch! We are a non-profit organization with a mission to create strong, diverse communities, and our counseling services are always free. In fact, we are the only housing counseling program in Columbia County that is certified by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). You can learn more about housing resources, how counseling works, and HUD’s certification standards at their website.
