The Galvan Armory is now home to the Hudson Area Library, a senior center, the Perfect Ten after-school program for teen girls, and, most recently, The Starting Place, an innovative daycare and special education preschool program. The Galvan Civic Hotel provides emergency housing to Columbia County families. And The Foundry at Hudson will reanimate the Gifford Woods Foundry Building as a hub of community activity. We also provide spaces for community partners like the Salvation Army, Greater Hudson Promise Neighborhood, Bard Early College, and St. Catherine’s Center for Children.
Many of the community spaces we provide come from our historic preservation work. Hudson is home to architectural gems that represent important pieces of our history and the heritage of our community. Our preservation work also includes renovating historic single family homes, the sale of which support our community-building work and charitable giving. Not only are these buildings steeped in history, protecting them ensures that Hudson is a beautiful and economically-diverse city that all can enjoy.
